Teighan Couch is a dynamic jazz vocalist and composer based on Vancouver Island, celebrated for her warm tone, agile bebop scat and honest, unvarnished storytelling. With a voice that can move from playful swing to soul-stirring ballads, she brings a refreshing mix of technical skill and emotional depth to the stage.

Teighan has performed sold-out shows across Vancouver Island and made her mark at the Nanaimo Jazz Festival, wheere her straight-ahead swing style and blues-infused delivery earned her audience acclaim. She was also hand-picked as a featured artist for the Port Theatre Discovery Series - a prestigious program spotlighting emerging Vancouver Island artists with exceptional talent and artistic vision. Through the Discovery Series, Teighan presented an intimate concert experience that showcased her ability to connect deeply with audiences while honouring the jazz tradition.

Her debut album, It’s Pronounced Cooch, features a mix of original compositions and inventive arrangements of jazz standards inspired by her favourite records. Early singles have already drawn attention: her bebop original “You Just Can’t Hide” delivers biting wordplay and rhythmic drive, while her swinging, soulful take on “A Gal in Calico” captures everything she loves about jazz.

Whether scatting over a burning rhythm section or leaning into a heartfelt lyrics, Teighan’s performances are marked by an unshakable authenticity - the kind that leaves audiences feeling they’ve truly been seen.

Released as her debut single and original "You Just Can't Hide" is a fiery bebop romp that proves there's no outrunning the truth. The single "A Gal in Calico" is inspired by the first jazz instrumentalist that lit Teighan's soul on fire. She based the arrangement of this tune on a performance done by Ahmad Jamal at the Spotlite Club in Washington DC in 1958. She's added her own personal flare to the arrangement - it's upbeat, it's soulful, it's bluesy; it's everything she loves about jazz and it's absolutely her personal favourite recording on her upcoming album.

Slow-burning and elegant "I Don't Miss You" lingers between longing and clarity. This original jazz ballad unwraps the ache of missing only the dream - the version of love that never truly was. With tender phrasing, lush harmonies and room for every breath, it's a bittersweet goodbye to a fantasy that one felt real.
